Prints

I have been doing mono prints based on my old book I made, I have two processes of them done already and I must do another print over them on Monday sooooooooooooooo they turned out good ..
With the excess ink I had to take off the acetate I engraved into potatoes to make potato stamps which gave a different shape of type font too. ( great fun)

I really like this one as I printed it wrong and it came out backwards . I think its interesting how it makes you want to even read what it says although the writing is reverse!

POTATO STAMPS:
These were fun, almost bringing back the memories of Junior and Senior infants. It was an experiment  but I enjoyed and like how it turned out.

Uhhhh tea and coffee stuff !!

My bad..... tis been awhile...opps

Hey sorry for getting back on this so late, I hadn't any camera to upload any work so  i have a lot for ye to catch up with what I'm doing............
Anyways I got most of my ceramic pieces glazed, and still NOT all of them...hym... well tis something, so i have a few images to show them in a transparent glaze / or glazed.
I have been experiment alot with my project that I had in the corridor revolving around thoughts and memories of people. This was a great success so thanks for everyone who took part. With the post-its I enlarged them to A3 and put them altogether, I think it worked out pretty good.

This is very large on the wall in the corridor, I had then extended it again bigger than this!

I have been working a lot with old thoughts and memories and the most important thing is typography.

I have made an old book with tea/coffee stained photocopies of the post-its, I really enjoyed experimenting and working with typography and seen what works and what doesn't.

I used jellies sweeties and love heart sweets that have thoughts on them already. I thought this was really fun to work with.

I worked with fleece and latex which was interesting to see how they turned out.

I done a few more of these but I must document them and they are also in my sketch book. These were a lil wee bit time consuming but I found it fun to searching for different type fonts in news papers and magazines.

Here are some images of the ceramic pieces.....

My darling brain and I....

Woooow where do I start... well me?....So I have been told by family, close friends and of course my boyfriend what I'm like....... Loud, annoying, distracting, shy around new people, funny, caring, loving, happy, exciting, weird, total freak.....and Yes that's me...oh and of course how can I forget, we all have that evil side we don't want see ha ha.....soooooooooooooooooo I began with a lovely painting of a brain, and then decided...hym yes that shall be my lovely brain... I filled it my current thoughts, past memories, instructions my brain tells me to do,  ma thematic equations I can't even do, my little sisters asks me sums while shes doing her own, but I just slowly walk away...now that's what I call AWKWARD!

Well we all know our brain is made up of two full sections which determine hoe logic or how creative we are.
So on the left hand side I have logic thoughts, science(not really), mathematics, language(s), and memories. On the right hand side is like an explosion really, with lose wires popping out from the brain...yes my family, close friends and Jim whose an electrician clearly think my wires are lose...so I added them in, I don't think I'm totally finished with it, and its actually fun doing my own brain.  I also used certain colours as each colour means something within my painting.

soooo enjoy looking at my brain peeps !!!

Wooo getting back on track, expanding more into the Brain work!

Since my assessments and feed back, I have starting to really look into why I'm doing the brain as my project. Why? Well a brain is not just a brain, its a strong powerful item. It is for storage and of course instructions, demands, thoughts and imagination and so much more! so I'm explore personally my own, and others brains, thoughts, and memories!... I just began to make small flowing brains and waited to see where that was going to lead....

They almost look like jelly fish, but I painted thread in colours that have certain meanings, I done one with a polystyrene balls, and two with sections from an egg box.

My next job I done was with the plastic brain I bought for €2!. I started doing paper maché over this to create a hard cast, so I'm still in the process of layering this. I hope when its completely dry to add thoughts and memories from various ransomers!!.
I also started working with felt! It is really interesting to work with the combination of the colours as you begin fleecing. I crossed hatched felt around a polystyrene ball and layered on the various colours I wanted to work with. When I finished fleecing two of these I cut them half open and added long rolls of fleece and inserted them into the rounded balls.

Some examples of my ceramic work

These are just some images of ceramic work I have been working on, and been glazing. Some need to be fired, others need a second firing, and a few are still in the process of been glazed.

I am on a roll

I have been quite busy since my last post, so I am just going to briefly go through what I have been getting up to.....

For starters I went off to the €2 shop in Limerick today and found a jelly making brain mould (DELIGHTED) off I went anyways to buy jelly, who knew you can be soooooooooooo indecisive when it comes to buying jelly??? Come on... I eventually settled on a mix of flavored jellies and I also bought natural jelly snakes (you know the healthier ones...as if). I was in my element while making it he he.

I made the bottom half of the cast first and added some jelly snakes into it, left it set and then done the top half the same  aaaaaaaaaaand fineto...it was complete! Not very tempting to eat though, gross a brain!!

It has now been fully eaten my darling siblings!

I have finished glazing some of my ceramic brains that came out of the kiln during the week. I am well pleased how they turned out and I have a few more pieces that went in to be fired today.  With the massive half brain I done im planning on getting people to wear it and do a few shots but all depending what glaze colourings I will use as the pose must suit the colours. The colours of the rainbow are for happy people, or drunken people etc... Or purples, blues and greys for people in bad moods and soooooo on....

Still disappointed on losing some documentation but at least I have a few of my leastest images to show you all!!....

I also made a very very very basic wire brain, it was my way to show the delicacy and the value the brain is, although it was quick and simple to make I enjoyed getting to experiment with different materials!!...

Speaking of materials, yes I was learning how to knit and yep I don't think I will be making a fancy mad brain like the artist Marjorie Talyor haha....

but I have picked up on it and seen as my mother is left handed I am learning the way left handed people knit....I think I will be well confused doing it the right handed way. Overall it's not a waste learning how to knit like left handed people because I am learning new skills and I can learn to experiment with knitting in others ways into my project.

This is related to my last post which I made a cast from clay and pressing jelly snakes into it.I then  filled the mould with hot wax....unfortuetly it was broken into smidderings!! aaaahhh well but heres a picture how it was done!!

Another step forward

OK, I am now on my journey working with brains and snakes in my project..... the only thing is alot of my documentation of my work is missing due to my camera been mislaid on our class trip home from the Dublin comtemporary!...so ill try post any work that is relevant to date....

Anyways My ceramic pieces that i have been working on survived the Kiln . I am now in the process of glazing/ colouring them which have become a good success so far. I am also working on other ceramic brains but with more experimentation to show my sequential development. These few have yet to be fired and when they are it will give me more time to sketch ideas and to glaze my other pieces of work.

I have also started working with other materials and mediums with my theme brains and snakes.... I made a jelly brain from a plastic cast i added snakes into the jelly... the result: too watery  so it kinda collapsed but looks like a real one.
..... i also made a cast out of clay and used hot wax, my darling  sister(beauty therapist) let me use this wax and her wax pot..... which turned out really interesting as the grooves looked like snakes! I done a small sample in my sketch book too.

My next plan is to work with fabric such as fleece, and knitting work which would give some nice effects, the artist I'm looking into linked to my project at the moment is Marjorie Taylor !!

bye for now ('',)

My blog

Hey just new to this blogging site!

I have been busy working on my project movement and motion which has been given to me over two and a half weeks now. I really enjoy my project as it it so broad that your mind immediately fills up with many ideas but one always seems to stand out the most.
This is my mind map...i like to not only develop my ideas by using words but also by using images to help express my ideas.

developing my ideas from clock works and gears.

Gears relating to the brain and how it works
