I am on a roll

I have been quite busy since my last post, so I am just going to briefly go through what I have been getting up to.....

For starters I went off to the €2 shop in Limerick today and found a jelly making brain mould (DELIGHTED) off I went anyways to buy jelly, who knew you can be soooooooooooo indecisive when it comes to buying jelly??? Come on... I eventually settled on a mix of flavored jellies and I also bought natural jelly snakes (you know the healthier ones...as if). I was in my element while making it he he.

I made the bottom half of the cast first and added some jelly snakes into it, left it set and then done the top half the same  aaaaaaaaaaand fineto...it was complete! Not very tempting to eat though, gross a brain!!

It has now been fully eaten my darling siblings!

I have finished glazing some of my ceramic brains that came out of the kiln during the week. I am well pleased how they turned out and I have a few more pieces that went in to be fired today.  With the massive half brain I done im planning on getting people to wear it and do a few shots but all depending what glaze colourings I will use as the pose must suit the colours. The colours of the rainbow are for happy people, or drunken people etc... Or purples, blues and greys for people in bad moods and soooooo on....

Still disappointed on losing some documentation but at least I have a few of my leastest images to show you all!!....

I also made a very very very basic wire brain, it was my way to show the delicacy and the value the brain is, although it was quick and simple to make I enjoyed getting to experiment with different materials!!...

Speaking of materials, yes I was learning how to knit and yep I don't think I will be making a fancy mad brain like the artist Marjorie Talyor haha....

but I have picked up on it and seen as my mother is left handed I am learning the way left handed people knit....I think I will be well confused doing it the right handed way. Overall it's not a waste learning how to knit like left handed people because I am learning new skills and I can learn to experiment with knitting in others ways into my project.

This is related to my last post which I made a cast from clay and pressing jelly snakes into it.I then  filled the mould with hot wax....unfortuetly it was broken into smidderings!! aaaahhh well but heres a picture how it was done!!

Another step forward

OK, I am now on my journey working with brains and snakes in my project..... the only thing is alot of my documentation of my work is missing due to my camera been mislaid on our class trip home from the Dublin comtemporary!...so ill try post any work that is relevant to date....

Anyways My ceramic pieces that i have been working on survived the Kiln . I am now in the process of glazing/ colouring them which have become a good success so far. I am also working on other ceramic brains but with more experimentation to show my sequential development. These few have yet to be fired and when they are it will give me more time to sketch ideas and to glaze my other pieces of work.

I have also started working with other materials and mediums with my theme brains and snakes.... I made a jelly brain from a plastic cast i added snakes into the jelly... the result: too watery  so it kinda collapsed but looks like a real one.
..... i also made a cast out of clay and used hot wax, my darling  sister(beauty therapist) let me use this wax and her wax pot..... which turned out really interesting as the grooves looked like snakes! I done a small sample in my sketch book too.

My next plan is to work with fabric such as fleece, and knitting work which would give some nice effects, the artist I'm looking into linked to my project at the moment is Marjorie Taylor !!

bye for now ('',)
